SELECTED PRESS MENTIONS:

"The other star of the show is Daniel Allen's visually stimulating set, which takes us from a lecture hall to a bright apartment to a tv writing room, all in several shades of yellow and gray and framed by phrases in big block lettering. Under Shá Cage's direction, the Jungle's production is driven by an electrifying friction..." - Pioneer Press on A JUMPING OFF POINT

"Speaking of the space, there was a most amazing set change during the intermission. The minimalist backstage area, dominated by a brick wall, was transformed into a homey two-bedroom Manhattan apartment. The credit for this goes to scenic designer Daniel Allen – and the team who made this happen in fifteen minutes each night." -RVA Art review on TORCH SONG

"Daniel Allen... has skillfully crafted a set that imparts a feeling of expansiveness and openness, successfully evoking the vastness of the Oklahoma prairie without relying on conventional representations." -Florida Today on OKLAHOMA

" An impossibly balanced jumble of chairs greets the audience on entering the space, and Daniel Allen’s set filled with racks of rolled maps and map tables and all things cartographic is stunning and immersive." -RVA Art Review on LONELY PLANET

"The striking set by Daniel Allen fills a full quarter of the stage with stacked chairs, a palpable reminder of the human toll being dramatized." -Style Magazine on LONELY PLANET

"Daniel Allen's scenic design is brilliant. There's a small tributary around the set, a two inch gulley of water surrounding a long island. Propped up on the island are the remnants of the boats. On one end of the theater space there s a rock wall expertly lit in crimson hues by Madelyn Miessmer... Point Park's production of "Men On boats" is well crafted, and it's an amazing exploration of history told in a unique way." -Burgh Vivant on MEN ON BOATS.

"Designed by New York City designer Daniel Allen, the set for CVP’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s multiple Tony Award-winning musical about intertwined, fractured fairy tales does the show justice with a faded yet fanciful atmosphere." -Florida Today on INTO THE WOODS
